Drinking + Games at Atlanta Restaurants

7 July 2015

Summertime and night life are an ideal match in Atlanta. With those steamy days spent close to the A/C, people are ready to get out and mingle come nightfall. Instead of the typical bar scene, why not enjoy the bar games and social atmosphere at one of these fun-filled bars and restaurants? Let the games begin!

Ormsby’s, a beloved bar on the Westside, draws a young crowd and is filled to the brim with bar games. On the docket? Shuffle board, backgammon, darts, pool and bocce. The bar is even home to a bocce league. Drink: Allagash White on draft-a Belgian-style white ale.
Drinking tip: Games at this bar are indoors. If you require a patio, walk over to JCT. Kitchen for an alfresco cocktail.

Work off a few cals from your Italian dinner at No. 246 when you play a game of ping-pong on the patio out back. Dining tip: Chase your game with a scoop of ice cream at Butter & Cream around the corner. Drink: A glass of the Nebbiolo, Pasquale Pelissero rosé from Piedmont.

Neon Blonde cocktail at Leon’s Full Service

Nearby Leon’s Full Service is known in equal measure for its cocktails and its bocce court. Positioned at the intersection of Church Street and Ponce de Leon Avenue, the spacious court offers plenty of opportunities for people watching in downtown Decatur. Drink: Neon Blonde with Papa’s Pilar Blonde rum, cucumber, thyme, lime, ginger, Bittermens Hopped Grapefruit Bitters and tonic water.

Double Zero Napoletana exudes a carefree vibe on its bocce and corn hole courts—a fun follow-up to a Neapolitan pizza feast. Drink: Barrel Aged Negroni with gin, campari, Carpano Antica vermouth and flamed orange

Midtown restaurant Empire State South, meanwhile, offers up a pretty city backdrop for its bocce court. The outdoor patio has various tables and chairs for hanging out with drinks pre- or post- Southern supper. Drink: Strawberry Letter #23 with Cachaça, strawberry shrub, kummel, cappelletti, lime and soda.

We know you’re a winner. Keep your drinking game night fun (and safe) and Uber or Lyft it home.
